Already scarce in some areas, it has become the new “gold” to be bought, traded, coveted, cherished, hoarded, and abused worldwide. It is currently traded on the Stock Exchange.
Part history, part science and part philosophy and spirituality, “Water Is…” combines personal journey with scientific discovery that explores water’s many “identities” and ultimately our own. Brain Lag invites all Ad Astra attendees to join us at our spring book launch party for Why I Hunt Flying Saucers And Other Fantasticals by Hugh A. D. Spencer and Tinker’s Plague by Stephen B. Pearl!
Why I Hunt Flying Saucers And Other Fantasticals collects thirteen of Spencer’s best-loved short stories, previously published in a variety of magazines and anthologies between 1990 and 2005. Malfunctioning household robots, an apocalyptic endless loop, potash-fuelled interstellar travel—these truly Canadian stories stretch science fiction to its limit and bring it into our backyards at the same time. Includes the Aurora Award-nominated story “Why I Hunt Flying Saucers”!
Tinker’s Plague tells the tale of Brad Cooper, a Doctor of Applied General Technology, or Tinker, who brings sustainably-powered technology to the post-apocalyptic remnants of southern Ontario. In Guelph, he finds himself at the epicentre of a plague outbreak. Stranded without support as the villagers fight against the quarantine, he seems to be fighting a losing battle as the casualties mount. Previously released by Draumr Publishing, Brain Lag brings Tinker’s Plague back in print for the first time since 2013, along with its upcoming sequel Tinker’s Sea.
Join Brain Lag, Hugh A. D. Spencer, and Stephen B. Pearl Saturday from 6:00-8:00 to celebrate the launch of these new titles. Meet the authors, get a signed copy, and enjoy free snacks!
